Printmaking Impressions at The High Desert Museum
Asked by the High Desert Museum to do a public printmaking event inspired by Andy Warhol’s “Endangered Species”, I had the opportunity to spend extended time with the artworks, learn from museum staff, meet the animals in their care. From this, I created four unique, color separated designs that transferred to rubber stamp material. The result was an accessible and successful art experience for a huge variety of ages and abilities with finished pieces similar to multi-block printmaking.
“Special guest and local artist Sweet Pea Cole was onsite on Wednesday, March 27 for Printmaking Impressions, a chance to create art with an Andy Warhol aesthetic and High Desert flare. The brand new program was made possible by Jordan Schnitzer and the Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation and in conjunction with exhibition "Andy Warhol’s Endangered Species: From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and his Family Foundation."
Through this educational program, young and not young created nearly 700 works of art in less than 3 hours.”
