NOTAMATIK

I am not a machine and neither are you.

We are unpredictable and imperfect,

not entirely knowable.

Our inefficiency is beautiful and soft.

We hold memories loosely, stirring together

knowledge with the ether of dreams,

and have more questions than answers.

So, in this modern world, Dear One,

The NOTAMATIK debuted at the $20 Art Show hosted by the High Desert Museum On October 19, 2024 with a blind-choice experience: Participants selected a theme for the background (Aquatic, Terrestrial, or Ethereal), the main subject (Vision, Connection, or Emotional), and an inscription (Fun-Fact, Fortune, or Fable). From these choices, I collaged pieces I had block printed beforehand, wrote the inscription on site, and covered the artwork with a plexiglass window painted gold. I asked the participants to commit to the process - they didn’t know what these choices would ultimately look like, but I assured them I would do my best to make a one-of-a-kind piece pf artwork just for them.
